Un buen punto para que los jóvenes se motiven a leer.La historia es sencilla: August es un adolescente con la cara deforme (se menciona que parece un chico quemado en un incendio, que se parece a ET o a Freddy Kruger) va por primera vez al colegio, pues su madre se encargaba hasta entonces de su educación en casa.La novela es la historia de los duros momentos que pasa este muchacho entre sus compañeros, que no son nada amables ni tolerantes con él. Al final, August se los va ganando a todos. Sencillo.Lo meritorio es el estilo en primera persona y desde diversas voces. Algunos capítulos son narrados por el protagonista, otros por su hermana o los compañeros del colegio. El estilo es agilísimo, fácil de leer y con buenas dosis de humor. Y, claro, la historia resulta muy emotiva. Es difícil que no le saque a cualquiera un par de lágrimas. Por lo demás, varios de los personajes adolescentes están muy bien dibujados en sus puntos buenos y en sus sombras; resultan muy humanos.Los puntos flojos: los primeros capítulos son repetitivos y predecibles. Los últimos alargan demasiado la historia y uno tiene la impresión de que sobran varias páginas. Sin embargo, los chicos –sobre todo de once, doce y trece años- adoran esta historia y es un excelente libro para motivar a la lectura. Muy recomendable para adolescentes.

Este libro lo leí en medio día, no pude soltarlo, me conmovió muchísimo, esta lleno de humor y sobre todo de la opinión de todos los personajes que rodean al protagonista, porque en una historia no es el único que sufre o ríe o vive, este libro nos enseña como el amor lo puede todo y también como la maldad viene en diferentes presentaciones, desde la inocencia hasta la mezquindad.

I’m only leaving one star because I was unaware that I was purchasing a Castillian translation. This isn’t mentioned anywhere in the books info, unless you count the (Spanish Edition) next to the title, but every Spanish translation, whether it’s in a Castillian or a Latin American dialect has the (Spanish Edition) next to it’s title. It would be very helpful if the dialect it is translated into is mentioned.
